Stretton Theatre and Concert Group

Purpose of the Stretton Theatre and Concert Group (STCG)

The STCG arranges regular Theatre and Concert visits from Church Stretton to venues within a reasonable distance of the town to see plays, musicals, ballets, concerts and other musical events, taking advantage of the benefits arising from group involvement.

Membership and Membership Fee

There will be a small joining fee, the amount to be decided by the Committee.  Currently it is £5.00.

Membership of the STCG is open to all, and an annual membership fee (currently it is £10.00) is charged to cover administrative costs.   The STCG is non-profit making.  The membership year will be 1st April to 31st March: for new Members joining on or after 1st  January their subscription will cover to the end of the following financial year,  i.e. up to 15 months.  Renewal membership fees should be paid by 30th April in any year.  Those who have not paid by this date will be deemed to have resigned and will not receive further advance information or be eligible to book at the Members’ price until their membership and rejoining fees have been received.

Membership covers all the adults in one household. Members will receive regular advance information of STCG’s future visits, either by e-mail or post.  Anyone who travels regularly to theatre or concert outings with the same person, may nominate that person as their Joint Member. The Joint Member will not be on the mailing list.  Members may include friends or relatives in their bookings at the Non-Members’ rate.

Cost of Visits

The cost of a visit will include coach, tickets discounted at a Group rate and the coach driver’s gratuity.

Theatre seats will be the best available. For concerts we normally book seats in the choir stalls.

Booking Conditions (including Cancellations)

Booking applications will only be accepted if accompanied by a cheque for the full cost.  No post-dated cheques or telephone reservations will be accepted.

Tickets will be allocated in order of receipt of applications. In the event of a theatre or concert visit being oversubscribed, a waiting list will be drawn up.  Members will be advised that they are on the waiting list. Members and Joint Members will always be given preference over non-Members.

Members who have to cancel a booking must notify the Booking Secretary to whom they sent their booking form, as soon as possible.   The cancelled seats will be filled from the waiting list, or if there is no waiting list, the Members may find someone else to fill the seats.   If takers are found, the Booking Secretary must be told, so that an accurate list of those going on the visit can be made.  If the seats are not filled, the Members concerned will bear the cost.  Members still on the waiting list on the day that the booking is confirmed will have their cheques returned to them.

Theatre / concert tickets will be sent out in advance to those Members who have been allocated seats.  A SELF-SEALING, STAMPED, ADDRESSED ENVELOPE MUST BE ENCLOSED WITH THE BOOKING FORM FOR THIS PURPOSE.

MEMBERS MUST BRING THEIR TICKETS WITH THEM TO THE PERFORMANCE.

Coach Arrangements

The coach pick-points will be: Watling Street South (outside the Methodist Church), the Beaumont Road Bus Stop (southbound) or Beaumont Road Coach Stop (northbound) in Church Stretton and the All Stretton Bus Stop;  plus The Horseshoes at Dorrington (on northbound journeys only) and the Old Post Office, Craven Arms (on southbound journeys only).   The times notified for the pick-up points are departure times and Members are requested to arrive at pick-up points at least 5 minutes beforehand. Picking up and setting down outside the wider Stretton area is not normally possible.

Disclaimer

The STCG accepts no responsibility for personal accident or loss occurring in connection with a theatre/concert visit.  Nor is it liable for the refund of any money for any reason, including the failure of the transport provided to arrive in time for the performance.

Data Protection

To facilitate the work of the Secretary, Members’ names, addresses and telephone numbers are held in a computer database.  This information is kept strictly confidential and is used exclusively for purposes of administration of the STCG.

Members should notify the Secretary immediately of any change of address.  Correspondence should be addressed to Mrs. Jenny Heath, Knollcrest, Trevor Hill, Church Stretton, SY6 6JH (Tel: 01694 722216 or e-mail heath@knollcrest.co.uk)

In the event of the dissolution of the STCG, monies will be distributed equally between Members current at that time.
